BB Curve 8330 v4.5.0.77 problem

Firstly I would like to say what a fantastic application this is. It is very easy to use. I recently upgraded my BB curve to v4.5.0.77 and now I can't do anything while the media player is in use because as soon as I try to switch to another application the stream ends. I contacted Verizon to find out why they had removed this functionality and was told that the media player multitasks fine, it is this application which needs to be updated to work with v4.5. I am so dissapointed. Are there any plans to make the necessary change so that we don't have this problem anymore?

Yes I too have the same problem - My VZW 8330 worked great streaming different stations. The first time I started up a stream after upgrading everything was working fine until I placed the device in my holster - the stream died. Then did a bunch of testing & the stream dies as soon as any button is pressed (especially the Blackberry 'Menu" button). When I used the media player to play stored music I did not have any issue - the music would continue to play with the device in my holster, I could also switch applications & check mail while still listening.

Please let us know if you are also having the same problem - maybe some one has a fix.

Hi.
I unwittingly solved this problem by upgrading my OS to v4.5.0.1.138 and it works like a charm. No longer I am stuck with just using the media player and nothing else. I can do whatever I want and the media player continues to play my radio stations. Heaven!

Where did you find the newer version of the 8330 OS? I am logged into the VZW site & all they have posted is still the 4.5.0.77.

You can check for updates using the Desktop Manager. I made the assumption that the update was just for the Desktop manager but it also had updates for my device so I went ahead and followed the instructions to update my device. My desktop manager is now 4.7.0.37 and my device is now 4.5.0.138.

Do you have a VERIZON 8330? I tried your method and it didn't work. Then I called Verizon and they told me they have the 4.5.0.77 as the latest software for the 8330. They said that the 4.5.0.138 version is only for the 8830, not their 8330, and that you may have been installing it for a different carrier?

hello my apologies for not responding to you sooner. I didn't realize you left me a message.

I have a Verizon 8330. When I connected my device to my computer the desktop manager informed me that there was an update and as I said I did the update but it also updated my device.
