iPhone Safari won't play any streams - loads but no play / stop button

I have been using Yourmuze to listen to a particular stream for several months. As of a few weeks ago it stopped working... but I can click on the original link which is an ASF file and listen to the stream in the VLC app (which does not play in the background).

The player loads, just the button on the left that used to be there for play or stop are no longer there... and it does not start playing or fill in the stream information.

I tried rebooting the phone, but nothing else has changed.
