KLOS 95.5 Los Angeles Can Anybody Get the Station?
I've been hacking around for the last couple hours and can't make any sense of it.
Several older posts here said they had good luck with the format:
http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/CFEXFM.pls
so I try to add:
http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/KLOSFM.pls
http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/KLOSFMAAC.pls
and I get:
This is not a valid streaming URL!
In Firefox, If I browse to:
http://player.streamtheworld.com/jbroadcast/?CALLSIGN=KLOSFM
it brings up a very basic flash player and the station starts streaming just fine.
I try to add the above line as a station in YourMuze and it tells me:
This is not a valid streaming URL!
Using URL Snooper, I find:
http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/infostream.php?CALLSIGN=KLOSFM&LA...
I try this and all sorts of variants of it but I always get:
This is not a valid streaming URL!
I also see in Snooper:
http://playerservices.streamtheworld.com/public/nowplaying?mountName=KLO...
and:
http://edge-dl.andomedia.com/800185/download.andomedia.com/atom2/creativ...
Andomedia being the parent of streamtheworld I put the above line in and YourMuze accepts it as a streaming URL. But when I play it, i get a 15 second commercial then 10 series of 3 ascending tones. And it continually repeats, commercial, tones, etc.
I don't know what to make of all this other than it doesn't look like I'll be able to get KLOS on YourMuze. I would certainly appreciate any help from anyone.
Thanks in advance.

Actually you came oh so close. That .pls is a playlist, which is a text file containing the media stream URL (plus two backup streams), viz.,
http://2243.live.streamtheworld.com:80/KLOSFMCMP3?lt=1
http://2243.live.streamtheworld.com:3690/KLOSFMCMP3?lt=1
http://2243.live.streamtheworld.com:443/KLOSFMCMP3?lt=1
Choose one and paste it into Firefox to bring up your media player plugin and KLOS plays loud & clear. (Well, that's what happens provided you live in the USA.)
However, you are never going to be able to listen to this station via YOURMUZE because the KLOS site denys Holland-based YOURMUZE a stream, citing "Geographic location forbidden". This means it recognises YOURMUZE as being located outside America and KLOS sure don't want no aliens listenin' in!!
So you are out of luck. Totally. :-((
The good news is that there are plenty more stations in the world. Besides, if you are in the USA then can't you simply click on one of those URL's I listed above and listen directly without going through YOURMUZE? It's a relatively low bitrate stream, probably about 28 kbps so you really don't need YOURMUZE.
I'm outside the US and to receive a feed from KLOS to my laptop I need to browse the KLOS site using a US proxy server as an intermediary so that to the KLOS server I appear to be on USA soil so am regarded as a worthy listener.
