Most internet radio sites simply provide a link to the stream - and the player then gets it direct. But this service has to transcode to do its job.
So I presume that the big cost is bandwidth.
As the active subscriber base goes up - so will the cost of the bandwidth needed to receive all of the content for the on demand transcoding.
