Does anyone know if a bb 8330 can use wi-fi?

Unfortunately no, the Verizon-specific 8330 Blackberry Curve and the Sprint-specific 8330 do not have a wi-fi adapter built into the device. The Rogers 8310 Curve does not have Wi-Fi either, but they opted to have a GPS instead.

The T-Mobile 8320 Curve does have Wi-Fi with UMA. AT&T's 8820 Curve also has Wi-Fi but does not have the UMA feature on theirs.

T-Mobile uses that Wi-Fi to provide the user a very unique service called UMA (Unlicensed Mobile Access). It's essentially voice over Wi-Fi with GSM signaling. While placing calls or receiving calls using UMA over Wi-Fi, T-Mobile does not charge the user. Phone calls over UMA are also free at T-Mobile's HotSpots - In airports, airline clubs, Hyatt Hotels, Red Roof Inns, Borders, Fed-Ex/Kinkos, etc. Data also works across UMA. You can even get a Wi-Fi/UMA router for your home that will eliminate your home telephone for $10 per month (Much cheaper than Vonage or Comcast). You disconnect from your landline provider and plug your phones into the router. I use it - works great and saves me a lot of cash.
